Week 1 – Welcome & Introduction

What I learned:

This week we when over the introduction package (blue book) that I will need to bring every weekly session so I can track my blood pressure and weight.Received a book “Choice Foods” which I be using a around the 11 week..

When over the schedule. I will be on the OptiFast for 12 weeks then I will be gradually reintroduced to real food over 5 weeks. I’ not allowed to take multivitamins or vitamin C when on OptiFast because it can increase the change of kidney stones. I will need to take Metamucil 2 -4 capsules (Fiber) to help with feeling full and bowel movement.

Portion plate which consist 1/2 plate of Vegetables (not potatoes or corn), 1/4 plate of grain or starch (about the size of your fist), 1/4 plate of protein (size of your palm and thickness of you finger).  1 serving of meat is around 1 oz cooked. Talked about plate size has increased  compared to my grand parents.

This week is the reduce calorie week to prepare my body to be on Optifast. I will need to try and limit my calories to 1500 per day. Using the sample menus in the blue book. and limit my snack to 250 calories. Write down the time that i’m hungry.

What I did:

This week I tried to reduce the amount of calories I had per day. By watching what I eat and looking at Nutrition Labels  I used Boost shakes to save time (breakfast and dinner). I had grapes/crackers/cheese for lunch.

It was difficult to consume less to 1500 calories per day. I did indulge a few times having chips for a snack. A had pizza a few days, but I manage to limit myself to one slice and only had one small cheesy bread stick.

How I felt:

This week was more difficult. I think because of work it caused more stress then usual. But i’m happy with my BIA results I lost 15 lbs of fat :). from my BIA in May
