Newfoundland Rocks by Donnie Stone

  • Sift together:
  • 2 1/4 cups of cream of west flour
  • 1 tsp. of baking soda
  • 1 tsp. of cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. of cloves
  • Cream together:
  • 1 cup of butter or margarine
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • Gradually (beat in:)
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla
  • 1 ½ tbsp of water
  • Stir in dry ingredients.
  • Beat to form stiff but moist peaks:
  • 3 egg whites
  • pinch of salt
  • fold into batter. Drop from a tsp. about 2 inches apart onto greased sheet.
  • Bake in preheated 275 F oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Makes 10 dozen.
  1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Lightly grease the baking sheet.
